Founder and President
CRAIG CALLAHAN founded the predecessor company of ICON in 1986. ICON provides investment management to individuals and institutions and manages the ICON family of mutual funds.
Mr. Callahan created a valuation model that advances the investment methodology originally developed by Benjamin Graham, the "Father of Securities Analysis." The combination of industry rotation and bottom-up valuation of securities distinguishes ICON from other investment managers.
Mr. Callahan received a doctorate of business administration (DBA) degree in finance and statistics from Kent State University and a bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University. Prior to founding ICON, he was a finance professor at the University of Denver and served as the Director of Research at a regional brokerage firm. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 registrations in addition to a NASAA Series 66. Mr. Callahan serves on ICON’s Investment Committee and also is Chairman of the ICON Funds Board of Trustees. From 1986 to 2005, he served as ICON’s Chief Investment Officer.
Mr. Callahan has been a television guest on numerous financial networks, as well as the focus of articles in a number of business and investment publications. He frequently addresses broker/dealer, institutional and investor conferences.
In 2003 and 2004, Mr. Callahan was a regional finalist for Ernst & Young’s "Entrepreneur of the Year" in the Financial Services category. Mr. Callahan received the "Colorado Pro Patria Award" in 2005 for demonstrating exceptional support of citizen soldiers serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
